Title: Project Manager
Location: Norfolk. VA
Position Overview:
Our client is actively seeking a skilled Project Manager to join our team, focusing on Shipyard Operations based in Norfolk, VA. In this role, you'll be responsible for coordinating, managing budgets, tracking performance, and overseeing the overhaul and/or repair of ships and marine vessels. Reporting to Program Management, you'll play a pivotal role in project organization, scheduling, problem-solving, and customer relations.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop comprehensive overhaul or repair plans.
- Track and negotiate changes in contracts, ensuring formal documentation.
- Identify and resolve potential problems, implementing corrective actions as needed.
- Collaborate with stakeholders including Ship Superintendents, Production, and Estimating teams.
- Interpret specifications and contract requirements for administrative staff, workers, and clients.
- Manage budgets, records, and production schedules to ensure project completion within set parameters.
- Coordinate resources efficiently with Supervisors, QA, Safety, and subcontractors.
- Conduct daily production meetings to ensure project execution adheres to safety standards.
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor's Degree in Business, Engineering, or related field, or equivalent experience.
- Minimum seven (7) years of experience in shipyard or ship project management.
- Proficiency in Excel, Project (and/or Primavera), PowerPoint, and Microsoft Word.
- Familiarity with NAVSEA Standard Item requirements and cost/schedule performance metrics.
- Strong negotiation, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
- Effective communication skills, both verbal and written.
- Proven ability to drive cost and schedule performance improvements.
Travel:
- Minimal travel required, approximately 10% or less.
